Job Description

Experience & Qualifications

  • Five years experience in a Bank / Financial Institute / Audit Firm with hands on exposure to two or more following departments i.e Treasury Front Office, Treasury Middle Office, Finance, Trade or Credit Cards.
  • Previous experience in an internal or external audit would be a distinct advantage.

OR

  • Four years experience in a Bank / Financial Institute / Audit Firm with hands on exposure to two or more following departments i.e Treasury Front Office, Treasury Middle Office, Finance, Trade or Credit Cards.
  • A part qualification in Banking (Completion of Certificate level of Banking Examination – CBF) or CIMA/CIM/ACCA/ACA (completion of the 2nd stage)  Or completion of 2 years of a 3 year Degree Programme
  • Previous experience in an internal or external audit would be a distinct advantage

Special Skills

  • Analytical skills to evaluate procedures and highlight risks / suggest suitable and practical mitigants.
  • Overall working knowledge in Treasury / Finance / Credit Cards and Operational Risk
  • Excellent Communication and report writing skills, with the ability to detail findings in a methodical and logical manner
  • Ability to complete in all respects the assigned tasks with minimum supervision and within the stipulated timeframe.
  • Overall knowledge of Branch Banking and operational knowledge of various retail and corporate banking products as well as the Core Banking system and the applicable reports etc

Job Profile

  • Conduct departmental audits, branch credit audits and other operational audits or any other business unit to ascertain the adherence to laid down procedures, mitigation the perceived risks and that internal controls are followed in all operational activities
  • Draft audit comments with implications and viable and cost effective recommendations for corrective action and qualitative improvements
  • Carry out support work such as the review of reports and assigned strategic checks systematically and adequately and release comments within the agreed deadlines.
  • Conduct/ be involved in internal investigations assigned and submit comments to the Investigation Team / Senior Manager/ DGM IA
  • Ensure that operational controls and risk mitigants are adequate in new products and procedures introduced from time to time by the business units
  • Have the ability to review procedure manuals and ensure that all relevant risks have been identified and the check the availability of suitable cost effective mitigants
  • Be a seen as ambassador of IAD ensuring that the auditee is given adequate guidance in all matters referred to the unit.
