Important Facts before Ready for Interview

Millions of people today struggle to find their dream jobs on a regular basis. From time to time, we keep on wondering why, how and what happened to the many jobs that were available at the time we still in college and the university. If anything, it remains quite unclear why most people are not living their dream jobs. Now, let us face it, in a tough economy like this, finding a job is one such difficult thing, let alone living your dream job. You see less job adverts on Television and Newspapers these days and you wonder why. You see a couple of them on the newspaper and apply but you are never shortlisted and you cannot stop asking questions.

Luckily enough, after browsing the web and flipping through the pages of the Interviewing-700x325-e1407347104424local newspaper, you find a job that interests you most, then the next best thing you do is apply for the same. Luckily enough you get called for an interview but has no idea how the day is going to be. It is a gain or lose game and the best gamer always takes the cake home. What I mean is, if you are not well prepared for the interview, the other friend of yours will absolutely overtake you, take the job and sit in that office chair, in your place. But you do not want that to happen to say the least, amore reason why you need to know some important facts before ready for interview:

 

Please check your dressing code:

You know bosses do not like those people who walk in for an interview dressed like college students going for a hiking Friday afternoon. They do not like people wearing caps and heavy clothing like Santa Clause like on Christmas. They do not love people who are in T-shirts either. I am saying this because I have had a chance to talk to professionals in different industries. You need to dress well like a Manager perhaps. The person interviewing  you is going to judge you by how much presentable you are even before the session starts. Dress well, like someone who has gone on a serious business not a trial and error scenario.

Confidence should be your gift:

Most people have a hard time keeping up with the interview because their minds are always shifted to the “what if” instead of the interview itself. More often than not, your focus is turned on the chances of passing the interview. You have to exercise confidence and faith if you must. Be confidence in the way you answer the questions given to you so that even the interviewee approves you of the job before even the Manager or the Managing team decides.

Be ready to answer questions:

Do not leave home before you are ready to answer questions. Prepare your mind early once you are called for an interview. This will leave less room for uncertainty about the session in the end.

Always keep time:

Another important facts before ready for interview is being on time. Please keep time. No one in a serious job firm will want to tolerate your lateness.

The level of joblessness in the world is overwhelming. The vision and dreams to find job after school is slowly fading. The American dream has actually remained a dream. The thought of going to more developed countries to get good jobs is now just a theory.

There are people lucky people. They apply for the dream job and get called for an interview. This is usually the determining point on whether you will get the position. To find job ends your search for work. It’s determined by your performance in the interview. Interviews are everyone’s nightmares.

An interview is actually a conversation between the employer and the employee. Interview is one of the oldest methods of selecting employees. They can be structured, unstructured or even very casual. The structured interviews are actually the most effective in predicting the productivity of an employee.
Interview questions are specifically designed to bring out the character traits of the individual in relevance to the position applied for. The interview also brings out the social traits of the individual. Some interviewers also go into job unrelated assessments such as the attractiveness, this mainly falls in advertisements and people related jobs, the gender and the cultural background.

Many people are not aware of how to create a professional CV, also known as, a resume. The right kind of CV can be the difference in landing that position or not getting picked. Take your time creating your CV and do not just hammer it out to get it done. The more time you spend on it, the better it will turn out. This will up your chances at landing that job that you want so badly. I have outlined below the method of creating a CV in the correct order, however, if you still have doubts, don’t be afraid to ask a family member, friend, or even a professional for advice.

The first section of your CV should be your education. Resume2Briefly describe with details about all schooling you have attended. Include special subjects that you took to land the job you have been dreaming of. You can also say briefly why you took those special subjects.

The next section should include your previous working experience that is related to the position you are currently applying for. Fully describe it in detail, including your past employers, how long you worked there, and what responsibilities you were in charge of. Explaining this information may make or break you on landing the position. It will show if you are qualified for the duties you would be undertaking at the new position.

The following section should be about your references. Most all companies will require references or past records from every employer you have listed on your CV. At the least, list two references that can give positive feedback regarding things such as, arriving on time and performing your job to the best of your ability.

Chances of getting a job

  • The average working hours are 9am-5pm (office hours for government and businesses) on a five-day week (Monday-Friday). Working hours for banks are usually 9am-3pm and 10am-7pm for shops. Tourist restaurants often open between 8am and 11pm.
  • Holidays: in addition to the leave granted by companies for employees, there are 21 public holidays in Sri Lanka.
  •  Taxation: You have to pay income tax if you earn more than 600,000 Sri Lankan Rupee. This is for residents only though. You are classified as a resident if you have been living in Sri Lanka for more than 183 days in a tax year. Income tax rates range from 4% to 24% depending on your income.

Applying for a job

Assuming you are a foreigner, the following are tips on job application in Sri Lanka:

  • You are required to secure a job prior to travelling to Sri Lanka. This is due to visa restrictions. Applications should be made by writing a CV and a cover letter. But in this digital age job postings will have similar or different requirements.
  • Make sure your CV has all the requirements of a standard CV like date of birth, marital status, nationality and citizenship.
  • Interviews are generally formal with two to three people on a panel.
