Program Manager

The Role

The primary responsibilities of the Program Manager are, to set the program strategy, manage the program budget, spearhead the program roadmap creation and assure the projects under purview are executed and delivered according to the roadmap, within budget, on schedule and to the highest quality.  He /She is responsible for conducting Program-Core team meetings, report weekly program status to local stakeholders and drive quarterly roadmap meetings and monthly program reviews with executive leadership.  And most importantly Program Manager is expected to guide, mentor and train Project Managers and champion and nurture the Agile culture in the program.

Experience, Skills & Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • 8 to 10+ years of program and/or project management experience in software development, preferably working with foreign clientele
  • Good understanding of the Agile philosophy and exposure to Scrum and / or Kanban and Engineering Best Practices
  • Strong ability to foster and maintain self-empowered agile teams
  • Possess good leadership skills to lead a team of project managers
  • Understanding of the budgets and resource allocation across projects
  • Excellent customer service attitude, superior presentation & communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong ability to resolve conflict within a project team
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills and ability to make timely and sound decisions
  • Ability to work independently  and efficiently in a fast paced environment
  • Individual should possess a Bachelor’s degree preferably in Computing or Information Technology/Management
  • Availability for travel to other Global Pearson office locations on short business visits
  • MBA / PMP / CSM / PMI-ACP are preferred
