Full-Time Ocean Procurement Specialist
Job Description
The ocean procurement specialist will be responsible for the overall procurement of the Country, grow profitability, balance carrier mix, control over allocations, and ensure client protection. The incumbent will also be responsible for establishing a framework to facilitate the required objectives and meet the set expectation
Qualifications and experience
- Bachelors degree or Professional Qualification in business or relate field/ Supply Chain and logistics experience will be preferred
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in ocean freight forwarding in Procurement function is mandatory
- The position requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively in a diverse multicultural environment
- Thorough understanding of ocean freight market drivers.
- Age below 35 years
Duties and responsibilities:
- Work with overseas partners and Ocean team to minimize unit costs by effective procurement, cargo mixing and prioritizing sales opportunities accordingly.
- Develop Procurement initiative, Focus carrier strategy & Operational Process/KPIs to achieve operation excellence.
- Devise tariffs for transactional business..
- Develop relationship at carrier’s local offices in their region & negotiate FAK rates & named account which will be held in MY RATES.
- Create visibility of all rates to the procurement community through My rates.
- Maintain and develop carrier relations for the region. Both strategic and non strategic carriers.
