Full-Time Lecturer: Cookery
Job Description
Our client is a leading institute in Sri Lanka.
Qualifications and experience
- Fully qualified Degree/ Professional qualification in Cookery from a recognized university, institute or equivalent.
- At least 5 years’ hand on experience in relevant field is a must.
- Being able to converse in 3 languages would be an added advantage. Minimum fluency in 2 languages is a must.
- Age between 35-50.
Job Role
- Teaching the participants the basics of food and kitchen safety, food preparation, and making healthy choices and substitutions when cooking.
- Choosing recipes that demonstrate key nutrition, food budgeting, and food preparation lessons each week.
- Assigning participants kitchen tasks that allow each individual to gain hands-on practice and improve their cooking skills.
- Supervise participants in the kitchen, encouraging proper technique and gently correcting as needed.
- Facilitate class discussions on each cooking or food safety message, allowing participants to brainstorm how they might put new behaviors into action, discuss barriers to adopting new behaviors, and share ideas with their peers for overcoming barriers.

- Strong communications skills.
- Comfortable speaking in front of groups.
- Ability to handle multiple priorities and to work to deadlines.
- Ambitious, confident, and results driven.
