The Job

Oversee the overall administration of the data infrastructure
Implement HA solutions and define Backup/Recovery strategies
Database performance performance tuning
Capacity planning and scaling database environment
Production suport
Define and document standards and guidelines
Periodically review the database performance stats and optimize a vast range of database technologies according to growth need
Come up with project plans and timelines for major database maintenance activities
Provide data administration support for development and maintenance of production and non-production database environments for distributed application
Guide the application development teams to come up with better database designs
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a similar technical related field
5+ years of database administration and performance tuning
Thorough knowledge in working in a Linux environment
Conversant with SQL and shell scripting
Experience in administrating relational databases; Preferably MySql
Experience with highly-available database setups like clustering and replication
Experience developing database security standards and best practices
Prior experience working with Amazon AWS environments will be an added advantage
Prior experience working with NoSQL databases (CouchDB, elasticsearch, MongoDB) will be an added advantage
