Responsibility & Accountability

• Function in a project team setting
• Is responsible to provide realistic estimates for his and his team tasks and achieve On-time Delivery.
• Strong and effective inter-personal and communication skills and the ability to interact with prompt and professionalism to the teams across different time zones.
• Efficient communication of issues/risks/concerns to leads or managers.
• Should serve as the Architect’s delegate within the team to propagate design/architectural consistency.
• Ensure that code artifacts produced are of the highest quality, conforming to set or agreed upon standard. Should advocate such consistency to all members of the team.
• Able to work with maintenance teams and contribute gathered knowledge when requested to do so.
• Follows the Pearson processes, agile practices and motivates his/her team members to do so.
• Makes optimum utilization of engineering tools and technologies to maintain a high productivity level in the team.
• Able to drive technology-based task forces/initiatives for the organization.

Key Technical Competencies

• Great attention to detail
• Great knowledge of JSON
• Ability to think of data efficient structures to represent semi-structured data
• Data modeling on NoSQL data stores: Cassandra, ElasticSearch, MongoDB
• Data analysis, ability to find patterns and common structures in high volumes of data, sampling and statistics
• Data cleansing – getting data from raw sources to high data quality
• Understanding of BI / Analytics principles at a high level at least (aggregations, cubes, dimensions, etc.)
• Good understanding of Software solutions designing
• knowledge in Java, Python or any other programming language.

Education, Experience and Qualifications

• B.Sc. in Computer Science or related discipline or equivalent professional qualification.
• Minimum four (4) years of experience in software engineering and design and preferably some experience in a leadership role. Should have held some authority over the design and architecture of enterprise software products.
