Summary:

Within the CIO’s Technology Operations organization, the End User Services team is seeking a technology domain expert with extensive knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft, Apple and Google desktop platforms. This individual is forward thinking and well-versed in emerging technologies and trends, is highly analytical, can identify patterns and rationalise them into opportunities for continuous improvement, and has a strong record of delivery covering end user infrastructure management, automation, provisioning and self-service.

The candidates will be focused technology specialists with deep experience in Microsoft, Apple and Google client management platforms, technology solutions and device management in large enterprises. The candidates will be responsible for providing detailed domain expertise and technical analysis to End User Platform Design & Implementation teams, while delivering continuous improvements to our platforms and services, ensuring that we deliver a great user experience and meet appropriate levels of device and information security.

The candidates will require the excellent interpersonal skills needed to partner across End User Services, with business stakeholders and other technology team members to understand strategic business initiatives, identify opportunities and deliver solutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with domain engineers in the End User Platform Design & Implementation teams on the maintenance of our global computer and mobile device management platforms.

  • Management of Windows / OSX imaging, software distribution, patch management, encryption and virus protection management services.

  • Analyze ticket data, EUS workflows, processes, business and security requirements, to work with the Design team to identify areas for improvement, automation and self service.

  • Work with the Platform Design & Implementations team to prescribe appropriate end user configurations that balance business requirements with Pearson’s technology standards to arrive at the optimal solution.

  • Implementation of technology deployments and upgrades, operating system builds, software distribution, software upgrades, patching and other end user system updates across the managed device estate.

  • Provide expert level support to EUS Global Operations teams with respect to end user devices and associated capability throughout Pearson.

  • Maintain technology, processes, documentation and policies to enable the use of employee owned devices securely on the company network

  • Management of personal incident and request queues calls to ensure that Service Level Agreement (SLA) targets are met.

  • Manage projects as directed by team leaders to agreed timescales, cost and quality

  • Prioritize workflows, recommend key decisions, and manage assigned project communication to all project and operational teams via team meetings and line management.

  • Ensure appropriate and effective communication and coordination with other members of Pearson Technology Operations and clients in the business areas.

Skills and Abilities (Minimum):

  • In-depth knowledge (min: 3 years experience) of the following End User technologies:

    • Device client OSes – Microsoft Windows, Apple OSX, iOS and Android

    • Device, Policy Management and Deployment – SCCM, Group Policy, MobileIron, Casper

    • Device Encryption – MBAM / BitLocker, FileVault

    • Device Protection – Symantec EPP or similar enterprise antivirus

    • Scripting languages – Powershell (min.) and others

  • Demonstrate expert problem solving ability and analytical skills, and ability to analyze call data, evaluating and making logical recommendations based on findings

  • Strong ability to interact and collaborate effectively with colleagues from other teams and with a wide range of stakeholders, domains and business partners and ensure completion of initiatives.

  • Ability to integrate future technology roadmaps into the deliverables

  • Ability to perform without supervision

  • Excellent communication, presentation and documentation skills

Skills and Abilities (Desirable):

  • ITIL framework (Foundation)

  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills with everyone from end users to C-level executives

  • Knowledge of Google ChromeOS

  • Virtual Infrastructure Management & VDI – Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop

Experience

  • Experience of working in a global organisation and on projects across global teams utilizing a formal project management methodology

Formal education or equivalent:
