Full-Time Database Administrator
Job Description
We are Seeking Database Administrator for our client company.
Key Responsibilities
Establish yourself as 2nd/3rd line support for the SQL Server DB environments
Provide OS, Database and application support to the UK, Dubai, Canada and the wider customer base.
Ability to document relevant processes involved in.
Assist with regular environment reviews to include security and ensure best practice is adhered to.
Involve in SQL Server backups across all environments.
Assist the Senior SQL Server DBA to conduct regular DR testing and maintain documentation.
To work with the Senior SQL Server DBA and work with the development and BI teams to ensure continuity across all stacks
Involved in SQL licensing reviews and upkeep/consultation
Assist in analyzing technical issues from internal clients
Assist the Senior SQL server DBA to conduct regular upgrades (OS, Databases, Applications)
Working shifts covering core business hours (07:00 – 18:00 Mon – Fri)
Nights and weekends will be required on an ad-hoc basis to support incidents and planned changes.
Requirement
A minimum of 3 years’ experience in a medium sized organisation
Knowledge and understanding of MS SQL 2005/2017, Azure SQL DB
Installation, upgradation, configuration and management of SQL server
Knowledge in SQL Server migrations including upgradation of SSIS packages.
Understand SSIS/SSAS/SSRS, configuration and migration of ETL packages is desirable but not essential.
Experience in HADR techniques in SQL Server including Log shipping, Clustering, AOAG.
Exposure in SQL Server performance tuning techniques.
Understanding of SQL Internals; database engine and Optimisation is desirable but not essential.
Understanding of the MS SQL Licensing models is desirable but not essential
Understanding of MS Azure (DBAAS, IFAAS) is desirable but not essential
Understanding of Solid understanding of Microsoft Server OS (2008/2012)
Understanding of MS Cluster Technologies
Understanding of Fibre SAN Technology and RAID technology is desirable but not essential
Exposure to SolarWinds and COMM Vault is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of PowerShell for SQL Server is desirable but not essential
Knowledge of Oracle / Progress is desirable but not essential
Understand Prince2 and ITIL concepts is desirable but not essential
