Full-Time Business Development / Sales Manager – Freight Forwarding

Job Description

We are on the lookout for a Business Development / Sales Manager for our well reputed client company who is into Freight Forwarding located in Colombo 15.

Salary: Negotiable

Key Responsibilities

  • Develops Sales priorities/targets (volume/price) and business plan.
  • Formulates and coordinates development opportunities between local and overseas Sales management.
  • Provides input for annual sales budgeting.
  • Steers local Sales force by identifying opportunities on assigned trade lane(s), launching, managing Sales campaigns and driving volume/density initiatives on assigned trade lane(s).
  • Provides selling tools for assigned lanes such as benchmarking and selling kit for Sales.
  • Acts as consultant and subject matter expert to Sales.
  • Plans overseas visits and acts as enabler for overseas Sales.
  • Establishes and agrees Trade Lane must-win customer list together with Sales and Products.
  • Interacts with local product pricing teams (AFR& OFR) as well as Marketing.
  • Manages pipeline size and hit ratio.
  • Interface with Sales Team on focus lanes (provide input on strategic relevance of the customer which is related to the must-wins).
  • Prepares monthly reporting/monitoring/root cause analysis of sales performance.
  • Develops action plan where targets are not met.

Key Requirements

  • 5 years’ experience in similar capacity.
  • Broad understanding of forwarding industry and deep knowledge on DGF products (AFR/OFR) and business models.
  • Ability to work independently and drive customized solutions/address individual needs.
  • Conceptual thinking and analytical skills.
  • Ability to gather and analyze complex data.
  • PC literate, excellent organizational, communication incl. telephone and writing skills.
